Historical Commission approves House Plaque Program promotion and discusses merger with Historic District Commission.

Historical Commission · Meeting of February 19, 2026

HULL — The Hull Historical Commission unanimously approved final narratives for its House Plaque Program and How to Research Your House initiative, with Chair Dennis Riley overseeing the decision to promote both through the commission's website and the Hull Times. The commission discussed a proposal from Mary Harrington to merge with the Historic District Commission, citing examples from other towns including Falmouth, to reduce confusion and improve workload distribution. Member Don Ritz opposed the consolidation, warning that seven unified commission members could not effectively replace work currently split among fourteen positions.

A vote on the merger proposal will follow Harrington's meeting with Historic District Commission members.
