Hull Redevelopment Authority Votes to Fund Fireworks, Approve Community Land Survey

HULL — March 16, 2026 — Hull Redevelopment Authority unanimously approves $10,000 fireworks donation and landmark community survey at packed March meeting. The five-member board, chaired by Bartley Kelly, voted 5-0 to donate $10,000 to the Hull Celebrates 250th Committee — earmarked specifically for a July 18 fireworks display over HRA property — after member Dan Kernan pushed to tie the gift directly to the beachfront event. Committee chairman John Rowley said a local contractor, McDevitt, is providing an estimated 30-minute show for roughly $37,500, about half the going rate, thanks to a hometown discount. The board also voted 5-0 to approve a voter-survey instrument developed with Market Street Research to take community input on future HRA land use — the first such effort in roughly two decades — directing it to approximately 10,000 registered Hull voters by postcard, with results expected by late May or early June. In a separate 5-0 vote, the board approved use of half of Lot B for the Mass Bears and Cubs' Bears at the Beach event on August 1, at a discounted fee of $25 plus a $50 security deposit, with the group required to police the parking lot entrance and restrict it to registered event attendees.
