Hull Select Board Sends $142,543 Fort Revere Grant to CPA, Contingent on State Approval

HULL — December 3, 2025 — Hull Select Board forwards $142,543 Fort Revere grant to CPA board, conditioned on state sign-off. The board voted unanimously Wednesday to advance a Community Preservation Act application from historical preservationist Maxine Nash for lighting, fencing, and landscaping at Fort Revere Park — up from an earlier $84,976 request that had omitted a dusk-to-dawn lighting component intended to curb ongoing vandalism and improve nighttime safety. Board member Susan Short Green cautioned that the project's sole contractor quote may trigger state bidding and prevailing-wage requirements that could alter the final cost, and the board made approval contingent on written permission from the Department of Conservation and Recreation, which controls part of the property. In separate action, the board unanimously appointed Ken Heckman to a three-year Council on Aging seat and deferred a vote on a Zoning Board of Appeals alternate appointment pending at least one additional interview. Director of Public Health Rachel Girard briefed the board on waste and recycling options, estimating that a municipal transfer station would add a minimum of $500,000 to $1 million annually to town operating costs on top of significant capital investment; she said public meetings will be held in early 2026 before any formal proposal goes to Town Meeting.
