Hull Light Board declines to renew winter backup generator program. The five-member board voted 3 to 2 against spending $1.3 million to continue twelve megawatts of emergency diesel generation, with Chair Thomas Burns, Commissioner Jacob M. Vaillancourt, and Commissioner Mark L.
Kohn opposing the renewal, citing only two deployments totaling seven hours of operation over six seasons and cumulative costs exceeding $4.8 million. The Board unanimously approved testimony supporting Article 40, a home rule petition to the General Court, by a 4-1 vote. Commissioners also authorized a professional feasibility study, not to exceed $110,000, to scope a proposed garage and evaluate flood protection at 15 Edgewater Road, with findings due by December.
