Hull Light Board reaffirms opposition to joint DPW facility, seeks separation from grant. In a 3-to-1 vote on July 22, the Board, led by Clerk Jacob M. Vaillancourt, voted to remove the light plant from the town's pending Coastal Zone Management grant application and reaffirmed its April 2026 position opposing the proposed $45 million joint facility at 9 Nantasket Avenue.
The Board authorized a $110,000 feasibility study of its standalone garage project at 15 Edgewater Road, which will address cost estimates, flood protection, and historic preservation requirements. Vaillancourt cited the light plant's aging electrical infrastructure, noting that peak load has reached 16.6 megawatts against a 17.5 megawatt rating on 93-year-old feeder lines, and the system does not meet N minus 1 contingency standards.
