Hull Sewer Commission Sets FY26 Rate at $19.01 Per Hundred Cubic Feet
HULL — June 11, 2025 — Hull's Water and Sewer Commission unanimously set the fiscal year 2026 sewer rate at $19.01 per hundred cubic feet, a 2.5 percent increase over the current $18.54 rate, at its June 11 meeting. The $30 monthly base fee remains unchanged, but staff signaled base fees could rise to $40 as early as fiscal year 2027 or 2028 to cover debt service on $18 million in State Revolving Fund borrowing approved at town meeting. Finance staff said FY25 is on track to close with a small surplus after years of revenue shortfalls driven by Weir River Water billing errors, including a corrected invoice that came in at $58,967 — down from a projected $70,046 after double-billing adjustments — with a third corrected invoice of roughly $15,000 still pending. The commission also learned Hull was awarded a $700,000 state grant for a two-year comprehensive wastewater management plan with Hingham, Cohasset, and Scituate, each community contributing $100,000, with the study to examine whether the towns should form a regional wastewater authority.
