The Town of Hull announced Oct. 6 that the state Department of Conservation and Recreation will present a report on flood-resilience strategies for Nantasket Avenue and Hull Shore Drive at two public meetings, one online and one in person.

The online session is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., with registration required through a Zoom link. The in-person meeting will be held Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 6:30 p.m. at Oceanfront Hotels, 45 Hull Shore Drive. The same information will be presented at both sessions.

DCR is studying ways to reduce flooding on parkways it has identified as vulnerable and is identifying a range of potential adaptation strategies, along with their advantages and disadvantages, to protect the parkways from flooding while preserving their value as public spaces. The meeting will focus on the Nantasket Reservation Parkways report.

DCR described the strategies as "early ideas, not final decisions," meant to start conversations and gather input from community stakeholders and other agencies. The ideas are not intended to change flood maps and do not represent a complete list of options.

The public will be able to comment during each meeting after the presentation. Afterward, the presentation will be posted on DCR's Past Events for Public Meetings webpage. DCR is also accepting written comments through a public comment portal, with a deadline of Nov. 30, 2026. The agency noted that any name, town and zip code submitted with a comment will be posted on its website; email addresses provided will be used only for project updates.

Residents are also encouraged to complete a separate survey on the Nantasket Avenue and Hull Shore Drive project. Feedback from the meetings, comment period and survey will help DCR identify preferred strategies for further study before any construction project moves forward. Questions can be directed to [email protected] or 617-626-4973.
