Design board reviews flood-ready DPW-HMLP plan
The Hull Design Review Board reviewed a flood-resilient combined DPW and Light Plant facility but took no vote.
Other Committee · Meeting of August 13, 2026
HULL — The Hull Design Review Board reviewed a flood-resilient combined DPW and Light Plant facility but took no vote. Architect John Comeau of Weston and Sampson Engineers said the current 1946 DPW building, about 14,000 square feet, is structurally failing, while the town's grant manager, identified as Chris, said construction estimates have risen to roughly $28 million, below an earlier $65 million figure he had cited publicly. Member Lisa French pressed on whether vehicle bays would remain a "wash-through" during storms, and one member called the flood-prone design "a terrible idea." Member Tom Burns recused himself due to his Light Board role.
A DCR community meeting on adjacent promenade planning was said to be coming next month.
