Conservation · Meeting of August 11, 2026

Hull Conservation Commission continues Nantasket Avenue seawall hearing over a federal flood-zone dispute. The board voted unanimously to put off a decision on a concrete block wall and landscaping plan at 1150 Nantasket Avenue for two weeks after Climate Adaptation and Conservation Director Chris questioned whether the lot has a qualifying coastal bank, a status that would determine whether the applicant can legally armor the shoreline under a pre-1978 exemption. Engineer David Ray, representing applicant Tim Grobleski, said the proposed 29-block wall would simply continue an existing granite wall left from a long-abandoned railroad bed.

"The wall in front of our house, the big seawall, is failing in places," Grobleski told the board. Commissioners also issued orders of conditions clearing in-ground and above-ground pools at 23 F Street and 161 Kingsley Road, and bumped a third hearing, 30 Ocean Avenue, to August 25 after an agenda posting error.
