Hull conservation panel flags flaws in new FEMA flood map, presses stalled erosion case. The Hull Conservation Commission voted 6-0 to approve six separate wetlands permits Tuesday, including new construction at 30 Ocean Avenue and 23 North Street, but the bigger fight was over a federal map revision that pulled nearly 40 structures out of the flood zone. Conservation Director Chris Crawford called the map "flawed" and said it relied on a single wave-overwash transect, while resident Lisa French pressed the board on who filed the application.
Commissioner Sam Campbell said proposed plantings "aren't going to solve that toe being totally eroded and washed out" at a year-old erosion case at 246 Nantasket Road, and Chair Paul Paquin pushed for a firm deadline and fines. The board also adopted new oversight conditions requiring DPW to notify conservation staff before North Nantasket Beach maintenance work.
