Hull Redevelopment Authority Approves 250th Anniversary Beer Garden for July 18 Fireworks Night

HULL — June 1, 2026 — Hull's Redevelopment Authority approved a fireworks-night beer garden on HRA property as part of the town's 250th anniversary celebration. The board unanimously authorized the Hull 250th Anniversary Committee to use Hull Shore Common on Saturday, July 18 from 5 to 9 p.m. for an event featuring two food trucks, a beer truck, and a live performance by a local band called Assisted Living — timed to coincide with a professional 30-minute fireworks display off a barge a quarter to a half mile offshore. The HRA previously donated $10,000 toward the fireworks. Approval was conditioned on the committee securing insurance, electrical and generator permits, and Select Board sign-off on alcohol service; the board also added a requirement that any ground rods be removed after the event. Resident Susan Mann, citing work with Mass Audubon, told the board the fireworks discharge must be at least three-quarters of a mile from piping plover nesting sites near Malta Street, and that state agencies require a formally approved public viewing plan — a requirement the committee representative said he would address. In other business, the board reorganized with Bartley Kelly as chair, Dan Kernan as vice chair, Joan Santoro as treasurer, and Charles Richardson as clerk, and approved a routine warrant of $2,921.44 covering legal, electrical, and consulting costs.
