Hull economic panel opposes $100 parking fine

Other Committee · Meeting of September 1, 2026

Hull's Economic Development Committee votes to oppose a $100 first-offense parking fine. Member Steve Greenberg, who was named the committee's liaison to a new Select Board parking subcommittee, called the fine "a really nasty way of saying, don't come here" and argued it requires a state home-rule petition the town lacks. The panel separately elected Meg Riley as its liaison to the Master Plan Steering Committee and approved May minutes 5-1.

Members heard a $369,000 grant application seeking $100,000 in state funds for visitor-center signage should be decided by the end of October, and that MBTA Route 714 bus ridership has nearly doubled, from 150 to close to 300 riders daily. The committee also agreed to send letters of support to the MBTA and complaint to the Hull Redevelopment Authority over a $15 evening parking fee near Surfside restaurants.
