Panel votes to name top public safety building site
Other Committee · Meeting of August 31, 2026
Hull public safety panel names a top site, orders cost estimates. The committee overseeing plans for a combined police and fire facility voted unanimously to designate a preferred site and directed consultant KBA to price out both new construction and renovating the aging A Street fire station, which members say sits on a lot too small to meet current standards. A member identified as Billy reported the project survey has grown to about 150 responses, with location the top concern and cost close behind.
Appraisals on nearby H Street-area properties, including parcels tied to a Tedeschi's store and a business called DiVito's, are due back by September 21 and will shape a possible separate substation. Members said they expect KBA's cost figures by mid-October and want firm numbers before expanding public forums, eyeing a possible town meeting vote as soon as next spring.
