Hull School Committee Approves New Courses, Sets Kindergarten Enrollment Cutoff

HULL — February 9, 2026 — Hull School Committee unanimously approves new program of studies adding business and financial literacy courses. The committee voted 5-0 at its February 9 meeting to adopt the 2026-27 program of studies, which establishes the foundation of a business and finance innovation career pathway at Hull High School pending state designation expected within weeks. Principal Shaw described two new courses — Digital Literacy and Communication and Financial Literacy and Economics — as well as a new Robotics 2 offering and the conversion of Advanced Algebra with Trigonometry to Advanced Algebra with Financial Applications. Grant funding has already been secured for professional development, with additional grant applications pending for materials and platforms. The committee also set a hard September 1 kindergarten enrollment cutoff, adopted updated facilities use policies, and accepted a $3,600 anonymous donation for the Nature's Classroom program. Director of Finance Diane previewed the FY2027 needs-based budget, in which salaries account for more than 78 percent of the request, with a formal vote expected at the first March meeting before the budget proceeds to the Advisory Board.
