Hull Board Votes 3-2 to Back Light Plant Garage
Select Board · Meeting of September 16, 2026
Hull Select Board splits 3-2 to back a new Hull Municipal Light Plant garage at its current Edgewater Road site. Vice Chair Jerry Taverna's motion, seconded by Clerk Susan Short Green, passed over objections from members Greg Grey and Irwin Nesoff, who said the board was endorsing a specific project before the Light Board's own $110,000 feasibility study was complete. Town Counsel Brian Winner's August 12 memo had found the board's authority to direct that $110,000 expenditure "materially more limited" than its authority to set grant policy.
Separately, the board unanimously endorsed a $125,000 Community Preservation Act pre-application for beach-access matting, appointed Kathleen Wolf and Jason P. McCann to town committees, and heard Short Green's frustration that a title dispute has stalled the James Avenue Beach taking for another 10 weeks: "We shouldn't have to sit here for 10 weeks not knowing what the delay is."
