Hull Select Board approves $50,000 opioid grant, launches monthly public office hours

HULL — March 18, 2026 — Hull Select Board unanimously approves $50,000 opioid settlement grant to local recovery center. The board voted 5-0 Wednesday to support the grant to the Anchor of Hull, a community wellness and recovery center, drawn from the town's accumulated $273,000 in national opioid settlement funds. Town Manager Kurt briefed the board on a range of task force initiatives including placement of recovery bags stocked with Narcan and fentanyl test strips at the library, police department lobby, and DCR bathhouses, and said settlement funds are sufficient to support a licensed social worker embedded with public safety for at least 10 years. The Anchor's representative said grant dollars will fund wellness classes — acupuncture, breathwork, and sound baths that drew up to 20 participants per session in a pilot phase — the recovery-specific Corian Kyle emergency assistance fund, and a new female recovery liaison position. The board also voted unanimously to establish monthly half-hour public office hours at 6:30 p.m. before one posted meeting per month, with two members present on a rotating basis beginning in April.
